Live Animal Surgery

The objective of this session is to practice various repair techniques in live animal. The workshop uses domestic pig for live animal surgery.

This is one day session where participants work in pairs, under supervision of an experienced facilitator for the following tasks:

  • Demonstrate the pelvic anatomy

  • Dissect the ureters

  • Repair ureteric injury and implantation of ureter

  • Repair bladder injury

  • Repair bowel injury, and perform bowel anastomosis

  • Dissect major pelvic vessels

  • Control haemorrhage using various techniques

  • Perform internal iliac ligation

  • Repair OASIS
